Overview

Central Area Urban Gardeners (CAUG) is a community project formerly funded in part by the City of Seattle's Department of Neighborhoods, with matching funds from local churches, civic organizations and private sponsors. The goal of the project is to provide training to local youth along with fresh produce to local food banks, thus supplementing all the canned goods, not-too-fresh vegetables and dairy products that provide less than complete nutrition.

In addition to the vegetables themselves, CAUG is an opportunity for learning. We offer training to local young adults, who can exit our ten-week program with certificates of achievement in food-handling, hygiene and hydroponics. Programs are provided in cooperation with local organizations like YMCA and community colleges.
